Attorneys for a property owner in Gilbert’s Annecy neighborhood have filed two appeals against the town’s decision to approve plans for a behavioral-health hospital.
Kentucky-based developer Springstone proposes to build a $14 million, 72-bed mental illness and addiction-treatment center called Saguaro Springs near Val Vista Drive and Williams Field Road.
For the second time this year, upset neighbors have teamed up to fight development of the hospital, citing fears over child safety and diminished property values.
Springstone faced similar opposition from prospective Gilbert neighbors in April, when the company sought to build the behavioral-health hospital near Pioneer Elementary. Protests from parents compelled Springstone to withdraw its proposal, and the company announced the current location in August.
