Money for capital projects in short supply in Scottsdale

Scottsdale will have far fewer dollars to spend on capital projects and im­provements than it did in past years, projections indicate. On Dec. 9, the City Council got an early look at key issues in the upcoming capital budget.

Current projections suggest that there is little financial leeway to build new projects beyond basic upkeep and high-priority improvements, especially after the defeat of the recent bond election, which would have raised taxes to pay for new projects.

Scottsdale will further prioritize projects in its five-year capital plan.

Many lower-priority projects could experience delays until dollars become available, city officials have said.
