Arizona Corporation Commission responds to water service interruption

The Arizona Corporation Commission held an emergency meeting Tuesday after 50 water customers found themselves without water services.

The Commission reports Green Acres Water Company, headquartered in Somerton and which provides services to 210 customers in the Yuma area, had discontinued service to customers and shut off power to its wells Monday.

The ACC reports a history of problems with the water provider, including charging higher fees than the commission approved and being out of compliance with health and safety standards set by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Todd Brandenberger, owner of Green Acres Water Company, told the Yuma Sun he disagreed with the ACC’s actions.  He acknowledged the electricity was turned off at the well site, but said water service was not disrupted.
