Mohave County Treasurer Cindy Landa Cox said the county’s idea of foreclosing on abandoned properties to remove their property tax liens is a good idea all the way around.
Cox, who took office in January, recently told the Mohave County Board of Supervisors that she and her staff are in the process of making a list of all the properties the county owns that it cannot sell because the taxes and liens are more than what the property is worth.
The list, which will probably take about another year to complete, will be brought to the Board to see if it wants to foreclose on the properties and forgive the taxes and liens, including those from the Health Department and Development Services, so they will sell better.
