Here are notes from the speech Peoria Mayor Bob Barrett delivered Wednesday. The actual speech may differ from what is written.

It is my pleasure to present the State of the City address. I am proud of Peoria’s accomplishments in 2013 and look forward to continued success in 2014.

While we are beginning to see the slow recovery of the Peoria economy, we continue to operate very conservatively, and we continue to watch the revenues and expenses of the city.

The good decisions that were made by the Council and staff throughout the past five years are beginning to pay off and Peoria is in a great position as businesses begin to look toward expansion and growth.
