The 5,000-square-foot building looks even less distinguished than its plain-looking neighbors in a light-industrial area several blocks from downtown.
If most passersby assume it’s empty, that’s fine with the owners.
The tinted-glass front doors don’t open. Behind them are cinderblocks full of concrete.
The way in is through a small a side door. A visitor’s first step is onto a bright-blue sticky mat to remove street dirt from the soles of shoes. A security officer in a small room, monitoring cameras covering the inside and outside of the building, collects visitors’ driver’s licenses.
