Casa Grande Dispatch
The Casa Grande City Council on Monday is expected to consider a development agreement and a new final plat plan for the first phase of the Arroyo Grande subdivision.
At McCartney and Trekell roads, Arroyo Grande was one of several subdivisions started at the height of the building boom.
In 2006, Scott Communities planned to build 312 homes there. Walls were built, streets were graded and some infrastructure installed, including electric, water and sewer lines. But when the recession hit, work stopped. Planned homes were never built, bonds were allowed to lapse and the subdivision has sat idle for several years.
With the economy improving, developers are ready to bring the subdivision back to life, building 307 homes in four phases, according to city staff reports.
The number of lots was reduced from the original 312 to accommodate required on-site storm water retention, according to city reports.
