Glendale votes down contentious billboard plan

The Glendale City Council, on Tuesday, rejected a proposal to build two billboards near Loop 101 and Bell Road.

The 5-2 decision followed more than an hour of testimony from Peoria, Phoenix and Glendale residents who argued for and against the proposal.

Speakers opposing the boards included Midwestern University President Kathleen Goeppinger and former Glendale mayoral candidate Walt Opaska.
