Paradise Valley councilwoman says voters should fill Schweiker seat

Councilwoman Lisa Trueblood is requesting Councilman Dan Schweiker to resign before April 28.

Town Clerk Duncan Miller said an effective date before April 28 would require the seat to be filled by election. After that, it requires only council appointment.

Trueblood, whose seat is among several that are open,  says a council seat set for vacancy this summer should be decided by popular vote rather than by appointment.

Schweikert recently tendered his resignation because he and his wife are moving to Scottsdale. He will leave his post effective July 3, roughly two years before the term expires.
