While seen as a long-shot, medical-marijuana advocates are launching a recall effort against state Sen. Kimberly Yee, blocked legislation that could have funded research of the effects of the drug on post-traumatic stress disorder.
Veterans have tried to convince the Arizona Department of Health Services to add PTSD to the list of qualifying conditions for a medical marijuana patient card, but health officials have refused to add the medical condition, without research about marijuana’s effects on PTSD.
Yee would not allow a hearing of House Bill 2333, which would have allowed medical marijuana cardholder fees to fund a University of Arizona study to decide how the drug would affect veterans with PTSD.
