Mayor says Fountain Hills will benefit from development fee drop

Fountain Hills officials are hoping a decrease in impact fees paid by homebuilders and commercial developers will spur more construction and increase population growth.

The state-mandated decreases will be in place Friday, Aug. 1. Impact fees are one-time payments developers make to municipalities to fund public services for new residents, such as additional roads, police stations, water-treatment plants and parks.

At a special Town Council meeting Wednesday, a public hearing took place on the proposed fees. No residents spoke on the proposed fees.
