West Valley cities streamlining permitting process

Residents and developers can get building permits quicker as several West Valley cities have launched programs designed to streamline the process, putting a host of projects on the fast track to completion.

Peoria is the latest city to start over-the-counter plan-review and self-certification programs. Surprise, Glendale, Avondale and Goodyear have similar programs, many of which started within the past year.

The main thread in all the programs is that they save time for customers, Glendale building-safety official Stephen Dudley said.
