Surprise to examine bike lanes, transit in new plan

Surprise will create a wish list of transportation projects and policies including safer car entrances at shopping centers on major roads, more bike lanes, more sidewalks and new transit options in the coming months.

City staff on Tuesday laid out a four-month timeline to the City Council that will update the growing city’s transportation plan.

The General Plan lays out where residential, industrial and commercial buildings and amenities can be built, and because voters approved a new plan in November 2013, the transportation plan now needs to be updated.
