Georgia on the mind of Meritage Homes

Meritage Homes Corp., the ninth-largest homebuilder in the United States, has created a new South Region that will be based in Atlanta.

The region will include the Scottsdale-based company’s (NYSE: MTH) recently acquired operations in Nashville, which will be coupled with the Atlanta and Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, markets.

Meritage Homes announced July 10 it would buy Douglasville, Georgia.-based Legendary Communities for nearly $130 million.
