Somerton council considers rescinding residential zoning

In what would be an uncommon step here, the zoning of 60 acres set aside for residential development could revert to the land’s original agricultural zoning.

The Somerton City Council on Tuesday will consider a recommendation by the city’s planning and zoning commission to rescind the residential zoning for the parcel, part of the Las Estrellas residential subdivision located on the west side of Somerton Avenue.

According to a commission analysis, the developers did not fulfill terms of the residential zoning approved by the city in 2006.
