A group has pulled a statement of organization to form a committee for a possible recall of Sahuaro district Councilmember Gary Sherwood, reports Darrell Jackson, The Glendale Star.
The organization, led by Sahuaro district residents, said the time was right to try and make a change. The organization, called the Recall Councilman Gary Sherwood Committee, is headed by Anna and Richard Lee but they are planning meetings and looking for more people to join and support the cause.
Sherwood said he knows the group that pulled the statement, but isn’t worried at the moment.
Anna said the final reason that made them decide to pull the statement of organization was the fact that Sherwood voted in favor of the Tohono O’odham casino Aug. 12, but they claim there were many reasons to do this now.
“There were many votes that bothered us, and it was a culmination of all his votes,” Lee said. “The casino flip-flop was the final straw, but it was also the billboards, higher taxes, a bad Coyotes deal and many others.”
