Civil rights activist Rev. Jarrett Maupin is criticizing Arizona Public Service Co.’s parent company for not having any Black representatives among the 11 people on its board of directors.
Maupin, who finished last in the four-way Democratic primary race for the 7th Congressional District in August, called on APS to release data on the number of minority employees it has.
He threatened to protest the APS headquarters if parent company Pinnacle West Capital Corp. didn’t release figures.
“We will take the fight to the shareholder meeting if we have to,” he said.
Maupin said his criticism was inspired by a similar push outside Arizona by Rev. Jesse Jackson to get Google, Facebook, Twitter and other large technology companies to release such data. Amazon has drawn attention for declining to release the data.
