General Plan vote: What Mesa could look like in 20 years

Mesa’s new 2040 General Plan, on the November ballot, says transformation is imminent. We offer a peek at what Mesa could look like if that transformation comes to pass.

Look no further than Main Street, Southern Avenue or Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport to see that pieces of Mesa’s future are already here.

On Main Street, city leaders believe the growing light rail line eventually will support a thriving, walkable downtown core.

On Southern, a streetscape project that will reduce the number of lanes again marks a shift away from car-centric travel.
