Five candidates are vying for four seats on the Central Arizona Water Conservation District board.
The board, which gets little public notice, directs operations for the Central Arizona Project.
Pima County has four seats on the 15-member board. Three of the county’s current board members — Pat Jacobs, Warren Tenney and Sharon Megdal — are seeking new six-year terms.
Carol Zimmerman, who has served on the board for 12 years, did not seek another term.
Karen Novak-Cesare, who has owned and run the landscape architecture firm Novak Environmental for the last 16 years, is one of two candidates running to fill the seat vacated by Zimmerman.
The other newcomer to the race is Wesley Mehl, the vice president and general counsel at Town West Realty.
