Glendale voters on Nov. 4 will pick three city council candidates who will have to tackle the city’s ongoing financial struggles, among other issues.
Norma Alvarez, the only incumbent seeking re-election, has a well-funded challenger in former ally Jaime Aldama in the Ocotillo District.
That could mean all three seats go to newcomers. Three new members also were chosen in the last election two years ago.
In the other races, financial planner Gary Deardorff and real estate agent Lauren Tolmachoff are seeking the Cholla District seat. And Randy Miller, a computer company owner, is facing Bart Turner, a semiretired insurance agent, in the Barrel District.
Incumbents Yvonne Knaack and Manny Martinez did not seek re-election.
