Ousted Glendale councilwoman won’t seek recount

Councilwoman Norma Alvarez, who lost her bid for re-election by 19 votes, will not seek a recount.

“I don’t think there’s going to be a request,” she said. “Mr. Aldama won. I hope he does a good job.”

The results of Alvarez’s Nov. 4 contest would have qualified for an automatic recount had challenger Jamie Aldama’s victory margin been 10 votes or less. However, the councilwoman could still have requested a new tally as long as she paid for it. Automatic recounts are funded by taxpayers.
