I detected echoes of Jack Kemp in Gov. Doug Ducey’s inauguration speech.
Most conservatives support free markets and limited government primarily based upon the belief that they are more compatible with and conducive to individual liberty.
Kemp believed that. But he was animated by a desire to see the lives of the poor and disadvantaged improved. He passionately believed that expanded opportunity in the private sector would do far more to accomplish that than government welfare programs. And he was a dedicated evangelist for that proposition.
