State political parties elect leaders

The Republican Party leadership slate Saturday elected were Robert Graham, re-elected as chairman, and Jonathan Lines won as treasurer.

A.J. LaFaro, the former Maricopa County Republican Committee chairman lost his bid to become the state party’s 1st vice-chairman.

The Arizona Democratic Party also held its state organizational meeting on Saturday.. Alexis Tameron became the first woman elected as state party chair. Tameron was chief of staff to former U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell, D-Ariz. and was campaign manager for former U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona’s 2012 U.S. Senate bid.
