After members of the Glendale City Council met last week and questioned city plans to sell the Foothills Branch Library to Midwestern University later this year, community members have launched an effort to save the library.
Councilmember Bart Turner expressed concern about the lack of transparency and citizen input for the proposed sale. He was frustrated to learn at the Feb. 3 council meeting that the university had offered to purchase the library twelve months ago.
“It sounds to me like it will be done at the expense of showing the proper respect and getting the necessary input from our boards and commissions, and as a former commissioner, myself, it would offend me,” he said.
