Pinal economy moving in the right direction

Pinal County’s employment situation is on the upswing, but there’s still plenty of work to be done.

That was the primary message from the leaders of central Arizona economic development group Access Arizona during its annual investor luncheon Thursday at Robson Ranch’s Hermosa Ballroom.

Access Arizona Executive Director Jim Dinkle said Pinal County’s unemployment rate has dropped from 8.3 percent to 7.1 percent in the last year, which is more in line with the statewide unemployment rate of 6.7 percent. Representatives from PhoenixMart, Tractor Supply Co. and Alliance Lumber highlighted the number of jobs and revenue their businesses have generated in Pinal County or are expected to generate in the future.
