Another domino tumbled Thursday in the slow, steady revival of west Mesa’s Fiesta District as officials announced plans to turn a vacant Macy’s department store into modern corporate offices.
The Fiesta Corporate Campus will cover 158,000 square feet in the northwestern corner of the 35-year-old Fiesta Mall near Alma School Road and Southern Avenue, where Macy’s closed shop in early 2014.
Designed for up to four tenants, the office complex will likely hold 900 to 1,200 workers at a time, developer Scott Jackson said. Considering the possibility of differing shifts, the building could bring as many as 2,000 jobs, he said.
