A deal that would have allowed Mesa to purchase the historic Buckhorn Baths inn and a slew of its contents is dead.

City Manager Chris Brady confirmed Wednesday that Mesa and relatives of the property’s early owners ultimately could not reach an agreement, despite more than two years of negotiations.

“It’s very unfortunate. It was one of those projects we thought would be unique for Mesa,” Brady said. “It has been very difficult and discouraging.”
