Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio and other opponents of plans to build an underground venue and host events at an Arcadia home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright insist deed restrictions on the property prohibit the proposed commercial uses.
“Like many other properties in Arcadia there are deed restriction on the Wright property,” said DiCiccio. Those include stipulations the home only be used as residence.
DiCiccio, who represents the area, said the owner of the David Wright House will have to rectify those deed restrictions before the Phoenix City Council can consider special use permits to build an events center at the property.
But Wright House owner Zach Rawling and his attorneys counter the decades-old deed restrictions on uses for the property do not block plans to host field trips, architectural students and other events.
