NEWS RELEASE
KEARNY, ARIZONA – State Senator Barbara McGuire, D-Legislative District 8, announced today that she is opening a committee to explore running for Congressional District 1.
“The residents of rural Arizona deserve a representative who understands the unique needs of our communities. They deserve someone who will fight every day to create jobs and uphold their values,” said McGuire. “Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick served our district with distinction, and rural Arizona cannot afford to lose a champion in Congress. That is why I am exploring a run for Congressional District 1.”
“I am going to take the next few weeks to discuss this possibility with my constituents, friends, and family. My decision will be based on where I think I make make the greatest difference for the people of rural Arizona.”
Sen. McGuire is a life-long Arizonan and lives in the town of Kearny. She currently represents large portions of Pinal and Gila Counties, including a portion of the Gila River Indian Community, and her legislative district is almost entirely within Congressional District 1.
