A 10-acre property is being redeveloped through a project that could be a template for efforts to revive other hazardous lots in central and south Phoenix.
Almost two decades ago, a 10-acre abandoned field south of downtown Phoenix was labeled a public health hazard, its soil containing heavy metals and toxic chemicals known to damage internal organs, stunt growth and potentially cause cancer.
