The change some members had hoped for won’t be happening as Yavapai County Republican Committee Chairman Michael Sanders retained his position after a vote Saturday morning, July 25, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Sanders’ opponents within the county GOP committee had a majority of the votes of those in attendance, but it wasn’t enough.
They needed 86 votes among the 170 elected precinct captains. After Yavapai County elections officials tallied the vote, the vote was 79 votes to remove Sanders against 68 to retain him.
