Tuesday’s election marked the end of one of the sleepiest Phoenix campaign seasons in recent memory. Voters re-elected every incumbent on the ballot and approved all five ballot propositions.

But despite the lack of drama on Election Day, the results are telling about the state of Phoenix politics and could have broad consequences for the country’s sixth-largest city. Here are five takeaways that have political observers talking.

Phoenix often has been called one of America’s most conservative large cities, but progressives say Tuesday’s election is evidence the city continues to lean more to the left.
