Central Christian Church is on track with plans to build nearly 300 houses surrounding its south Gilbert campus after the Town Council on Thursday approved a zoning change in support of the proposed development.
The 30-acre church campus — with a worship center that seats 1,200 people — opened in 2007 at the southeastern corner of Lindsay and Germann roads. The church owns more than 100 undeveloped acres around the campus.
The new subdivision, Copper Leaf, will be developed in three phases, according to a town staff report. The church is planning to break ground on PhaseI and begin selling homes by the middle of next year, town spokeswoman Dana Berchman said.
