Out of the fire into the frying pan– Glendale mayor’s race

Former Glendale Fire Department Chief Mark Burdick, who retired in May, is not content with sitting on the sidelines.

Burdick, 57, announced Wednesday he will run for mayor against first-term incumbent Jerry Weiers in August’s primary election.

The former fire department administrator said Glendale has been called Arizona’s worst-run city and he wants to restore its reputation.
