Cotton farmers squeeze more product after real estate boom

CASA GRANDE — Ben Hoyler is known as “The King Cotton.”

“I was raised on a farm in Willcox, having sprayer fights as a kid,” said Hoyler.

An independent crop consultant, Hoyler began his career in Casa Grande back in the late 1970s.

As someone who has eye-witnessed five decades of cotton growing practices in Arizona, Hoyler is uniquely qualified to answer: “Is cotton still one of Arizona’s 5 C’s?”
