An Arizona-based data center company entered the heated debate over whether the Arizona Corporation Commission can require utilities to disclose their election spending.
IO Data Centers, founded in Scottsdale, runs a global network of data centers, and many of its customers want low-cost energy and access to renewables, since the cost of energy is one of a data center’s main costs, IO president Anthony Wanger told Arizona Capitol Times.
But, Wanger said, the company’s clients don’t have good access to renewable energy like solar in Arizona, particularly in Arizona Public Service territory, and the lack of a competitive electricity market hinders the businesses.
