Gov. Doug Ducey has advice for those who hope he will pick them as judges: Don’t answer his questions the way you think he’d like.
As the governor prepares to interview candidates for his first Supreme Court justice, Ducey acknowledged he has a philosophy of what he expects a judge to be. But the governor insisted there is no “litmus test’ question on hot-button issues, like abortion, that would immediately cause a candidate to be disqualified in his mind.
More to the point, Ducey cautioned against applicants trying to curry favor — and perhaps secure the nod — by tailoring their answers.
