Option C stood for compromise. At least it did in Saturday morning’s special Surprise City Council meeting on a proposed major General Plan 2035 amendment.
With a calendar-year deadline to make changes looming, the council heard two amendment options at its regular meeting Tuesday.
The option devised by city staff was not palatable for land owners in the city’s northwest corner and further west north of the Sun Valley Parkway. Their primary concerns were large swaths of open space corridors, some of which they found arbitrary, and the formalization of wildlife linkage corridors on the map before more study and debate took place.
