Coldwell Banker will pay out $4.5 million in settlement; question of real estate agent status deferred for another case

A lawsuit that could have had wide-ranging repercussions for the real estate industry has been settled out of court, deferring for another day the question about whether real estate agents should be considered employees or independent contractors.
Bararsani v. Coldwell Banker was settled last Thursday, Jan. 14, when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge William F. Highberger granted final approval to the settlement.
