The town of Superior is embroiled in controversy over the mayor’s reported personal use of a town credit card. Colleagues on the Town Council and citizens are asking him to resign, and a recall effort is being discussed in case he doesn’t. He clearly should.
Many Pinal County residents outside of Superior don’t often pay attention to what happens in the northern Pinal community. But some will remember Jayme Valenzuela because he ran for county sheriff twice in the Democratic primary, against eventual winners Roger Vanderpool in 2000 and Chris Vasquez in 2008. The latter was the year Vasquez lost in the general election to Republican Paul Babeu.
