Local solar advocates kick around effects of ACC, federal elections

Sometimes it takes a while for the results of an election to sink in. And sometimes I just hit a hard deadline as when I was working on a story last week about the reaction to the election from the solar community.

After the story for Friday’s paper went to press, there were a few more thoughts that came through.

Generally, the feeling of most of the people I talked with was that Republicans winning the three slots on the Arizona Corporation Commission may just mean more of the same that has seen diminishing incentives for solar, and that the national level may represent a saving grace.

Sean Seitz, president of American Solar Electric in Scottsdale, was among that camp. While he had some initial reaction that having Matt Salmon back on Capitol Hill might give the state a solar representative it has lacked since Gabrielle Giffords stepped down, he saw it among the federal and state split.
