Another sign the housing market entered the new year with slowing momentum

New-home construction fell in January for a second straight month, as the housing market entered the new year with slowing momentum.
U.S. housing starts fell 3.8% from a month earlier to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.099 million in January, the Commerce Department said Wednesday, the lowest rate since October.
Economists split over whether this slowdown would continue or whether underlying fundamentals would boost the housing market come spring.
