PARADISE VALLEY, ARIZ. – The new Mountain Shadows resort, opening in early 2017, is proud to announce Andrew Chippindall as vice president and general manager.

The original resort opened in 1959, setting the benchmark for desert luxury and distinctive design. The newest incarnation is being rebuilt from the ground up by Woodbine Development and Westroc Hospitality. Mountain Shadows will feature 183 modern guest rooms, a luxury wing with 42 condos and suites, a restaurant with an exhibition kitchen, two pools, a high-tech fitness facility, and a fully revamped short course featuring 18 holes. The resort will also have 12,500 square feet of indoor meeting space complemented by 25,000 square feet of outdoor event space, including a roof deck with a private bar.

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Andrew has decades of experience in hospitality management. He has worked at luxurious hotels and resorts in London, Austria, and Indonesia, and managed the media village for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He joined the Westroc Hospitality team in 2001 as front office manager for Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort, and in 2005 became general manager of Hotel Valley Ho as part of the pre-opening team. Andrew is very involved in the community, as a member of the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Board, City of Scottsdale Tourism Advisory Task Force, and chair of the Scottsdale Arts Board of Trustees. He will begin his new role at Mountain Shadows on August 1.

“It’s been a great pleasure to work at the Westroc collection of independent hotels and resorts, and I am delighted to lead the team at the new Mountain Shadows,” Andrew notes. “The unparalleled views of Camelback Mountain and the unique desert modern design will truly set the resort apart.”
