Glendale entertainment district hearing gives voice to both sides

Downtown Glendale is in the process of adopting an entertainment district that would allow businesses to be granted a liquor license, despite the state law that says liquor licenses are not to be distributed to businesses within 300 feet of a school or church. The proposed entertainment district would affect 49 schools and churches.

The city held a public meeting Aug. 31 at the City Council Chambers. Residents of the community were encouraged to share their comments and concerns.

Parents, children, pastors, and elders made up the crowd of about 20. Most who voiced their opinion publicly, were supportive of the change.
