Arizona voters surveyed in a new poll were divided on whether they support raising the state sales tax in exchange for eliminating the individual income tax.
The Arizona Republic/Morrison/Cronkite News live telephone survey of 784 registered voters found nearly 37 percent supported eliminating the income tax, even if the sales tax would rise by 5 cents. Nearly 40 percent opposed it, and 24 percent were uncertain. The margin of error was 3.9 percentage points.
