Scottsdale developer buys Islamic mosque land, slates shopping center

Scottsdale-based MDC Land Development has bought 9 acres of land in Peoria at Happy Valley Road and 83rd Avenue.

One of the parcels acquired in the $2.2 million deal was land previously slated to become the Islamic Center of Peoria.

Those plans ran into some neighborhood opposition in the West Valley.

Now, the land once slated to become a mosque is part of MDC’s plans for a 70,000-square-foot retail center.
