On November 1st, Townscape Partners’ proposed development at 8150 Sunset Boulevard, with an iconic design by Frank Gehry, received unanimous approval from the Los Angeles City Council. The Council’s unanimous approval comes one week after the project was approved by the City’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee.
Townscape Partners released the following statement: “Our aim has been to create a timeless and important project that is genuine to LA’s creative and progressive identity, no better manifested than on the iconic Sunset Strip. The way people are living in LA and want to experience life in the city is changing, and we are very excited about creating a next generation project, together with Frank Gehry, that responds to this movement.”
You can find more information on the project via the Los Angeles Times, Curbed LA, and Urbanize LA.
Much appreciation goes to the many community members who took the time to express their support to decision-makers through calls, emails, letters, and testimony at the public hearings. Without the support received from over 3,000 community members, the project could not have come all this way.
We will continue to be in touch as the project progresses.
