Loop 303 project in Peoria to receive estimated $48M windfall

Project after project stalled during the Great Recession due to lack of funding.

That’s what happened with construction of part of the Loop 303 in Peoria, from Happy Valley Road to Lake Pleasant Parkway. The project was delayed and funds had to be found elsewhere at a later date.

But it appears the city will experience a windfall, of sorts, to the tune of an estimated $47.8 million for the completion of that leg of the freeway.

City spokeswoman Jennifer Stein said pre-design and environmental work could begin as early as spring, with final completion scheduled for summer 2020, pending an approval from Maricopa Association of Government’s Regional Council in later this month.
