Paradise Valley Town Council, with a unanimous vote, appointed David Sherf to join its ranks Thursday, Dec. 6 filling a vacancy left by Vernon Parker.
Mr. Parker tendered his resignation at the Aug. 29 Paradise Valley Town Council meeting to run for the U.S. Congress.
Mr. Parker, a former mayor of the town, was re-elected to Paradise Valley Town Council this past March to a four-year term; however, the person appointed to the vacant spot will serve until the next municipal election, which is August 2014, according to Jim Bacon, Paradise Valley town manager.
Mr. Sherf appointed will only serve two of Mr. Parker’s four-year term, state statute stipulates.
Paradise Valley Town Council members originally named four: Steve Benson, Mary Hamway, David Sherf and Jonathan Wainwright at the Nov. 1 deadline, according to Town Clerk Duncan Miller.
