Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale employers expect to hire at a vigorous pace during Quarter 1 2013, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey. Among survey participants, the Valley areas’ employment outlook is the second best in the nation.
From January to March, 23 percent of the companies interviewed plan to hire more employees, while 3 percent expect to reduce staff. Another 68 percent expect to maintain their current workforce levels, and 6 percent are not certain of their hiring plans. This yields a Net Employment Outlook of 20 percent.
“Hiring activity is expected to slightly increase during the first quarter of 2013 compared to the fourth quarter of 2012 when the Net Employment Outlook was 17 percent” said Manpower spokesperson Frank Armendariz. “Employers expect improved employment prospects compared with one year ago when the Net Employment Outlook was 14 percent.”
For the coming quarter, job prospects appear best in several areas, including construction, transportation, utilities.
